Education here is based on the British system and includes four stages:

  • Pre-school education: paid kindergartens where children learn English Primary school: starts at the age of 5 and lasts for 5 years, is compulsory for all
  • Secondary school from 5th to 11th grade: there are public and private schools. The most famous are the Kyrenia English School and the American School of Northern Cyprus at GAU.
  • Colleges and universities: after high school, you can enter colleges and universities with the opportunity to study in the world’s leading universities
